Congratulations to the Edison Girls Indoor Track & Field teams on winning their National District Championship! After battling a week of snow, ice, freezing temperatures, and a schedule change, both teams showed tremendous grit and determination—giving it their all and bringing home well-earned championships.
On Day 1 of the Girls Championship, Isis Nzekwe scored in all three sprint events, earning individual District Championships in both the 300m and 500m. Claire Maletz placed 2nd in the 1000m, Eva Pflugradt also scored and qualified for the Occoquan Regional, Ingrid Munteanu added points in the 55m Hurdles to secure a Regional berth, and Halle Knott contributed with a scoring finish in the 1600m.
Day 2 opened with Dinah Teshome earning an individual District Championship in the Shot Put, followed by Bella Oriade scoring in the Pole Vault. Alena Guilliod closed out the meet in dominant fashion, winning the High Jump with a Virginia State–qualifying mark of 5’1″, pushing the Girls team to 95 points and securing the District Championship.
